SOS Children’s Villages is a child-focused, non-governmental organization providing care and support to children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing parental care of their biological families. SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania is a member of SOS Children’s Villages International, the largest non-governmental organization for children across the world. In Tanzania Mainland, there are five program locations, including Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Iringa, Dodoma, and in Zanzibar we have two program locations Unguja Island and Pemba Island.
At SOS Children’s Villages, we embrace the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child which recognises that a caring and protective family is central to a child’s development. Similarly, we work in line with the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, which highlight the crucial role of a child’s family and the importance of appropriate alternative care.
Every child is unique, and so is the way we work...
We build families for children in need.
We help them shape their own futures.
We share in the development of their communities.
